A few days ago, 25 February 2026 marked a key milestone in the reform of electronic invoicing.

The Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP) officially announced the launch of the national information campaign designed to prepare businesses for the entry into force of the reform.

At a press conference, Amélie Verdier, Director General of Public Finances, and Emmanuel Spinat, Director of the Agence pour l’Informatique Financière de l’État (AIFE), presented the measures being deployed to support businesses in the run-up to the forthcoming regulatory deadlines.

National mobilisation to prepare companies

The aim is clear: to inform, anticipate and support all French businesses – the self-employed, tradespeople, shopkeepers, VSEs, SMEs and large companies – ahead of the phased introduction of e-invoicing scheduled for 2026.

A dedicated number is now available:
📞 0 806 807 807 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6pm).

From 28 February, a national media campaign will be rolled out in mainland France and in Martinique, Guadeloupe and La Réunion, including:

  • educational films by profession (self-employed, tradespeople, SMEs)
  • radio spots highlighting the benefits of the reform
  • national and regional press advertisements
  • an educational digital campaign on social networks and information websites

The central message of the campaign: “No more hassles”.

Electronic invoicing 2026: what it means in concrete terms

Beyond institutional communication, this reform represents a structural transformation of trade in France.

Eventually, all businesses subject to VAT will have to :

  • be able to receive electronic invoices (deadline for all companies: 1 September 2026)
  • issue their invoices via a government-approved platform (deadline: 1 September 2027 for VSEs and SMEs, 1 September 2026 for large groups and ETIs)
  • transmit certain data to the tax authorities

So it’s not just a question of changing the invoice format, but of reorganising administrative, accounting and financial flows.

A reform that goes beyond regulatory requirements

While the reform is first and foremost a legal requirement, it also represents an opportunity for VSEs and SMEs to optimise their operations:

  • reduced re-typing
  • fewer errors
  • automation of supplier flows
  • better visibility on cash flow
  • securing exchanges

Electronic invoicing is therefore part of a wider drive to digitise financial processes and make them more reliable.

Anticipate now to avoid haste

The launch of this national campaign confirms that the timetable is now fully underway.

Companies have every interest in :

  1. Understand their precise obligations
  2. Evaluate their current tools
  3. Choosing the right solution for their size

Working with a government-approved platform not only ensures regulatory compliance, but also integrates electronic invoicing into a more global approach to document management, pre-accounting and financial management.

In a nutshell

25 February 2026 marked the official launch of the national information phase on electronic invoicing.

The reform is entering its operational phase.
The next few months will be crucial in enabling companies to approach the 2026 and 2027 deadlines in a structured, secure and strategic manner.
